I'm kind of a DIY girl and love any opportunity to get to use a power tool. Fortunately, Valentines Day brought on just an occasion. I was driving by a house a few weeks ago, and noticed a huge heart on a person's front door and loved how festive it looked. Immediately I remembered a piece of scrap wood I had at home and instantly knew its destiny. So with the help of a jigsaw, sander and some paint....ta-da my very own giant heart door hanger. Yay!

And of course...what's a post without some really cute kids in it. We've had some unseasonably warm weather here in KY and have taken complete advantage of it by playing outside in the fabulous fresh air. Here are some pics of my sweeties. :)

Glitter Shoes

Catelyn is true girl and loves anything sparkly. Last week, I found a pair of shoes at Target on clearance for about $3. They were charcoal, slip on, boy tennis shoes. I saw on this episode of Martha Stewart a way to transform canvas shoes into glitter shoes, and thought it was adorable. This was the perfect pair of shoes to try this on. I think I may try to find some type of additional embellishment to go on the tongue of the shoe- maybe a bow or a flower not sure yet. I think they'll be such fun shoes, especially with a cute skirt or dress. Love it! Thanks Martha! :)

2011 Year In Review

2011... another adventurous year for the Lawler family! :)

January: lots of static, snow and a new found crawling baby.

February: lots of coloring, pulling up on furniture and a trip to Huntsville for much needed family time.

March: table food, playtime, and a visit from Pops and Jack.

April: Huntsville trip to celebrate mom's birthday and Easter in Montevallo.

May: our baby boy turned one, our little girl turned four, mommy turned 32 and we once again moved- this time to Bowling Green, KY.

June: better late than never...a princess birthday party for Catelyn in Huntsville with all the family. Also, little man started walking!

July: a visit from Pops and Jack to help celebrate the fourth. Later in the month, we got a visit from my mom, sister ,nephew and niece.

August: Catelyn starts 4 year old preschool. Also my first attempt at a photo session with the kids.

September: Catelyn's class took a field trip to Chaney farm. Tripp and I went with her. Also, Catelyn began swimming lessons. She loved them!

October: Mom and I, along with the kids, took a trip to visit my brother and his family in North Carolina. Later in the month we carved a pumpkin and had a little builder and a butterfly for Halloween.

November: Enjoyed some nice weather outside and had some down time with the kids. We also celebrated Thanksgiving with my family in Huntsville.

December: went to visit Santa, watched Catelyn put on a fantastic school program, Will and I took a belated anniversary trip to Nashville, celebrated Christmas in Huntsville, and then celebrate Christmas in Montevallo.

Christmas 2011

Christmas this year was very busy, but a lot of fun. Will and I started off the holiday by meeting my parents in Nashville to hand over the kids (thanks again mom and dad!). He and I had planned a combined anniversary and Christmas gift to each other by spending a few nights hanging out in Nashville. We had so much fun! We ate some fantastic food, went to see the Rockett's at the Grand Ole Opry and Will surprised me with appointments for he and I to get massages. It was such a nice, and very much needed break. After Nashville we headed to Huntsville to have Christmas with my family and then on to Montevallo to be with the Lawler's. It was a great holiday!

Our handprint ornaments this year! I love capturing those sweet little hands! :)

I loved this ideas for Christmas cards. You can actually see the individual cards! Best part was I was able to find the piece of wood on sale at Hobby Lobby for 80% off. It was painted Halloweenish, but it was nothing the sander and some paint couldn't handle. Fun project!

Christmas Program & decorations

Catelyn had her Christmas program this week at school, and it was adorable. They did so good! One little song had a part where they used kazoos and it was precious! She was so proud standing up on stage and beyond thrilled that her Daddy came to watch. She kept waving at him and saying "hi Daddy!" On the way out they marched down the isle jingling bells and as she passed Will she blew him a kiss. It was so sweet!

Below are pictures of this years Christmas decorations using my new stockings. :) I still miss home, so it took me a while to get in the Christmas decorating mood, but Catelyn helped with her natural little girl excitement.

Thanksgiving

I accidentally uploaded the pictures in reverse order, so if you really want a more accurate viewing of Thanksgiving day, start from the bottom and work your way up. Ha! Way to many pictures to fix this little problem. :) Thanksgiving day was filled with great family, great food, Christmas carols and tree decorating. Such fun memories and so glad we were all able to be together.

Reversible Stockings

So...I was faced with a problem (for the second year in a row) of what to do about Tripp's stocking. Problem was he didn't have one. When Will and I were first married I made us very detailed stockings and then made one for Catelyn after she was born. Well, for some reason I have not been motivated to make my little boy a matching stocking. I think I was just ready for a change and wanted a more traditional look. Pottery Barn inspired me and now we have nice new, reversible stockings. Yay! Best part is, I already had red and green corduroy in my material stash, my machine does the monogramming and the cream bating material was on sale- so total cost for essentially 8 new stockings...$3!! Woohoo!!

Tripp Update (18 months old)

I am way overdue on an update about my little guy! He is so sweet and definitely still my cuddle bug. He is always up for big hugs and kisses. Melts mommy's heart! He is about 28 pounds and about 32 inches long. He is a great eater and majority of the time a great sleeper- although we did just go through about a month long bout of growth spurt combined with big teeth coming in, ear ache, stomach bug and fever. I'm hoping we're through with all the craziness and normal sleep habits are back to stay! He adores his big sister and follows her around wanting to play/irritate her. :) He is talking a good bit and says the words: thank you, bye bye, all done, yes, mama and mommy, dada, uh-oh and a few other words that only I can tell what he's saying. ha! He is running and likes to sit on the tricycle and push with his feet. He loves to get in to everything and has an obsession with the toilet (so gross!!) He LOVES baby einstein and will barely budge through a whole video. He has tons of teeth and I don't dare try and count- last time I tried he bit down HARD and then thought it was hilarious! It hurt!! :) I love this little boy so much and so very thankful for him!

The month of October had so many events and went so fast I wanted to go back and do a recap for "memories" sake.

Catelyn's school field trip to Chaney's Dairy Farm. They watched and learned about dairy cows, took a hay ride and ate fresh homemade ice cream.

Catelyn was SO excited about starting back school. She did great! She looked like such a big girl with her back pack on. Can't believe this is the last year of preschool and that next year she'll be going five days a week for the next 12 years. Craziness how time goes by so quickly!

Freezer Paper Stenciling

Ok...if you've never heard of this before, it's awesome! Freezer paper makes the coolest way to do stencils on t-shirts. I've just started doing it, and I'm hooked. I found this website that shows exactly what to do. Fortunately, I found a couple of t-shirts for 25 cents at a garage sale and hung on to them knowing I wanted to do something with them. They were perfect for this project! I only wish I had more. Here are how my shirts turned out! Yay!

We had such a great 4th! Will's parents, along with his sister and a short (but sweet) visit from Uncly Lance, all came to Bowling Green to hang with us for the holiday. We stayed busy swimming, walking through caves, visiting the corvette museum, eating and getting super good hang time. Here are a bunch of pictures in complete random order of our fun weekend!

My sweet little boy is such a trooper. Catelyn is always messing with him, although she succeeds in making him laugh a good bit of that time too. Today I was in the kitchen working on dinner and stopped to go check on the kids in the living room. The below pictures are what I found. Catelyn was dressing Tripp up in her butterfly costume, head band and all. The little guy was just taking it like a man. Like I said...poor guy!

Catelyn's 4th Birthday Party

Obviously the theme of this years party for Catelyn was Disney Princesses. She had been talking and asking for this party since literally October. She was so, so excited about it. :) My fantastic sister (which I realized while doing this post, that I didn't get a single picture with. Boo! Sarah...we've got to work on getting more pictures together.) very sweetly offered up her house to have the party at, since we had just moved two weeks before. She went all out! Everything looked so great! Unfortunately, my dad (Papaw) had to work, but my mom (Mamaw) came over for the party. Phil, Jackie (Pops & Jack), Rudy and Lance all drove from Montevallo/Birmingham to be there, and it meant the world to Will and I and to Catelyn to have so many of the people we love there to celebrate with us. The day was filled with playing outside, eating yummy food, playing in the water, riding in cars, eating popsicles and cupcakes, opening presents and getting loved on a lot. It was a great day with lots of wonderful memories!

The lunch spread! My awesome sister and brother in law did a fantastic job of grilling hotdogs and making some super yummy bacon and roasted pepper pasta salad.

4 Years Old

With all the craziness of preparing to move on Monday, and Will just getting back in town, it was important to both Will and I that Catelyn had a day especially for her to celebrate her birthday. She understands this year what is going on, and we wanted to make sure she felt special. What a fun day it was! We are having a princess party for her when things calm down, but today we had a family party at Chuck-e-Cheese. It was great! She was in heaven with all the rides, play areas, games, pizza and a prize to redeem at the end of it all. After we left the resteraunt we came back home and blew out candles on a cookie cake and opened presents. She had such a great time. Later in the evening, some friends of ours threw a going away party for us, but it happened to be at Catelyn's best buddy's house which made for a perfect ending for our birthday girl. How quickly these four years have gone, and what a blessing she is and continues to be! I am so thankful for everything she brings to our lives. Happy 4th Birthday Catelyn! We love you very much!

We're Moving...Again :)

Early Monday morning, the movers will be here to take our things from Jonesboro, Arkansas (home of the ASU Red Wolves) to Bowling Green, Kentucky (home of the WKU Hilltoppers). Will accepted a position at Western Kentucky University where he will be doing compliance in their athletic department. I'm really excited about the move and the next chapter in this crazy life of ours. However, I will definitely miss some super sweet people who have loved on us while being here in Jonesboro. We have been shown more kindness and care than I ever could have imagined, and for that I am so grateful. Thank heavens for cell phones, text, email, facebook and blogs, or I don't know what I would do. So...without further ado, KY here we come!!!

My Baby is One

May 10th, my baby boy turned one! I still can't get over how fast it went by. He is such a sweet little guy and so easy going. We went in for his 12 month check up, and he weighs 23.6 pounds (50th percentile) and is 31 inches long (85th percentile) and is doing great. He is still crawling and will walk only when holding someone's hand or a chair. He is definitely more cautious then Catelyn, which is just fine. He says moma and dada and is really into throwing his food off of his tray, which makes me a little crazy. :) I'm so proud of my little boy! Happy 1st Birthday Tripp!

Will and I were able to spend Easter with his family in Montevallo, and we had such a great time. We were so thankful to be with people we love, celebrating our risen Savior.

11 Months Old

Only one month left and my little guy will be a year old!! It just goes too fast! So...lets see....to document for the baby book here's what's been going on.

-A few weeks ago, he weighed 22.5 pounds

-Still crawling, but will walk if holding hands, walking along furniture or pushing a toy or chair

-Great sleeper going to bed at 7 and waking up at 7:30

-Takes two, two hour naps

-Will only sleep on his tummy

-Has hair that grows at an extremely rapid speed. He's about to get haircut number 4!

-Has to eat a high fiber diet due to his little tummy issues (poor guy)

-Is slowly starting to sign "more"

-Big time cuddler (LOVE it!!)

-Loves the stairs and have to keep an eye on him or you'll find him at the top and then mommy almost has a heart attack!

-Drinks all but his milk out of a sippy cup

-Has 6 teeth (two middle bottom, two middle top, and each tooth on either side of top middle teeth)

-Adores his big sister, which often results in Catelyn telling me she "needs some space" from her little brother. ha!

Kids WILL Say the Darndest Things!

While standing in line at the grocery store today, Catelyn decided to talk to the bald man behind us by saying... "Hey...your hair's missin'!" I swung my head around to apologize to the man, but fortunately he just replied with a sweet smile and said "your right!" Thank heavens for sweet, understanding people! I think I may have to have a talk with Catelyn about not saying everything that is in that precious little head of hers. I have to admit though that after I was safely away, I called Will and told him of the conversation, and we both died laughing! That girl is hilarious!!!!

Growing So Fast

I'm not sure if it's because we moved right after having a baby, or because Will started a new career or that we're in a new town... but I feel like Tripp's first 10 months went twice as fast as Catelyn. I feel like I just had him, and yet the little guy is going to be a year old in less than two month. Blows my mind! So, I guess this post is me trying to capture his first year a little more in pictures since it seems to be moving to quickly in real time. :) Love you little buddy!

Great Weekend!!

This past weekend was an absolute blast!! Me, Will and the kids were able to spend a gorgeous, fun filled time with Will's parents (or better known to the kids as "Jack and Pops"). We met them at the Memphis zoo on Friday and played for a couple hours, then we went over to Rendezvous BBQ to eat lunch, which Will was very excited about. It is one of those places you "have to go to" if you're in Memphis, and has been featured on Man vs. Food on the Travel Channel. We ate until we were all completely stuffed, and then headed back to Jonesboro to relax a while. That night we ate at home, and then had a birthday cake and present for Phil and Jackie. The next day, we did a little shopping, ate some more good food, and watched ASU play some baseball. The whole weekend was filled with beautiful weather, good hang time, good food and lots of fun!

Ten months today- craziness!!! My little guy is precious and the sweetest natured little guy!! He is so easy going and loves his big sister. He is a superb sleeper, going to bed at 7 and waking at 7:30. He takes two, two hour naps and is an awesome eater. We started him on whole milk and he's doing really well. He eats all table foods and haven't found a food he doesn't like. Yay! He weighs 21 pounds and some odd ounces and is crawling all over the place. He likes to go for strolls in his walker and he likes to walk while pushing one of the kids sized chairs along the floor. He's pulling up on everything and is taking juice and water out of a sippy cup. He's still my little cuddle bug and I love it! Happy 10 months sweet thing!

Fishy Applique

Last summer, I found a couple of solid, child sized, white t-shirts at a garage sale for 25 cents a piece. I grabbed up all that they had, knowing they would be perfect to put appliques on. I guess because the temperature has warmed up some, and I can feel a hint of spring in the air, I decided today would be a good day to start appliqueing. I searched the internet and found some cute ideas, and then I let Catelyn decide which design I should applique on Tripp's t-shirt. She decided the fishy design looked somewhat like Nemo, so fishy it is! I then went to my "stash" of clothes to be repurposed and found a tube top that had fun summer colors on it and knew I had my fishy fabric. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and still have enough left over fabric to possibly make Catelyn a skirt. Love me some cheap projects! :)

Recharge with the Fam

This past week, me, Catelyn and Tripp loaded up and headed to Huntsville to spend a week with my parents and my sisters family. I always have such a great time when I go, and it always proves to be just the recharge me and the kids need.

One for the Baby Book

Catelyn was sitting beside me today while I was changing Tripp's diaper. I could tell her little mind was working, and I could also tell she was processing "parts" of Tripp that she had never processed before. Here is how the following conversation went:

Catelyn: (GASP) Mommy!!!!

Me: What Catelyn

Catelyn: What did the doctor do!!!? (Tripp had been to the Dr. the previous day)

Me: (somewhat laughing) What do you mean?

Catelyn: (hand balled up in a fist held in front of her hips) he messed "it" up!!

Me: (laughing a little harder) it's ok...he's not messed up, boys are made different than girls.

Catelyn: (wide eyes) OH!!!

That precious, little girl never fails to get a laugh out of me on a daily basis.

My amazing Mom!!

This past week was week four of some type of illness in our house. It's been ridiculous! Catelyn came down with the stomach bug first, followed by Tripp, then I got it and Will caught it two days later. My sweet mom had been on stand by for some time, since we couldn't seem to get well around here, but finally this past Friday morning, I had to make the call. Will and I had both had awful nights, with many trips to the bathroom, so at 7 am I called my mom with an "I need you" plead, and her response..."I'm on my way baby!" She's awesome! Immediately, I felt some relief. She drove 4 and half hours, putting herself at risk of catching this nasty bug, just to come take care of us. Because of her, Will and I were able to get some much needed rest with the confidence of knowing our kids were taken care of. Not only that, she did laundry for me, cleaned my kitchen, fed the kids, brought us groceries and the list goes on. Thankfully, I started feeling better while she was here and was able to spend some good hang time with her too. I appreciate her more than she'll ever know. So mom...THANK YOU and I love you very much!!!!

Sleeves and Summer Refashioning

I've ventured out into the world of sleeves and was very pleasantly surprised to find it wasn't as scary as I had imagined. Yay!! I've also been having so much fun "revamping" more old clothes into summer clothes for Catelyn. I think I'm finding I like making new clothes out of old clothes even better than starting from a pattern. When refashioning something, a lot of the "dirty work" (i.e. hems, serges, button holes and pre-sewn buttons, etc...) are already done... and that makes the project quicker, which makes me happy. Here are a few of the things I've made. :)

This outfit and the next, I forgot to get the "before" pics. Oh well. This first one,

all I had to do was add the straps to take an adult top to a toddler dress. Easy enough. :)

I made this one into a halter though.

Look Who's Crawling!

For about a month, Tripp has been hanging out in the crawling position, but couldn't quite figure out how to actually crawl. Then, about a week and a half ago, something clicked and off he went. He'll only go short distances, because I don't think he's realizes he can go all over just yet...which I'm ok with. :) Now we're brain storming how to contain the little guy down stairs on the cold, hard concrete floors. Congrats on the big step buddy!

Valentines Wreath

I know it's only the middle of January, but I've got Valentines on the mind. The color's are so fun and happy, and you need that (at least I do) when it's so cold and dreary outside. Anyways, a couple weeks ago, I saw this tutorial from House of Smith's on how to make paper roses out of crape/streamer paper. I thought it was so cute, and Target had some crape paper on sale in their Christmas section for 75% off. I already had red paint and the styrofoam wreath form, so the total project cost came to about 65 cents, which fits my budget beautifully! It was a bit time consuming, and my fingers felt the sting from the hot glue gun a few times, but overall I was happy with the outcome. :)

This is the scene at the Lawler house these days. Both of my babies and my husband are out for the count!! We're making it through, and have doctor's appointments lined up for in the morning, but wow...i'm ready for some healthiness to be back in our house. In the mean time, I'm just praying I can make it through the night and tomorrow without any symptoms of my own. How many days until Spring????

It's been a long while since I've posted specifically about Catelyn, so here is a little update on her. She is hilarious, a bit mischievous and is quite the independent little thing. She absolutely adores her baby brother, loves to help me cook, and is incredibly good at puzzles. She still naps about an hour to two hours a day, loves bath time and would eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for every meal if I would let her. I love my little cuttie tootie and definitely know life would be much less entertaining and less full without her.

8 Months Old

It's crazy how much faster the second baby hits each new month so much quicker than the first. I feel like Tripp's 8 months of life have gone by in a blink of an eye. He is changing so much. He is thinning out a little and is loosing the "infant" baby look. Makes me a little sad. :( He has his two bottom teeth and will bite pretty good if your finger gets in the way. He is going from laying to sitting up and has started pulling up a little. He is on the verge of figuring out crawling, but isn't quite there yet. I'm trying to soak up the days of only having one mobile child as long as I can. He has started saying dadadada and making motor boat and indian noises. He is definitely my cuddly child, and I love that about him. He just started eating table food and is doing great. As of this week, I have stopped nursing and he is now on formula, this is a little bitter sweet, but liberating at the same time. ha. Happy 8 months sweet guy!

April: Headed to Hunstville to spend Easter with my parents and my sister's family.

May: Full month.... :)

Tripp was born on May 10 and gave us a bit of a scare when he stopped breathing, turned blue and was whisked to the NICU for the week. Fortunately, is wasn't as bad as we thought,

and we took our little guy home with us just a few days later than planned.

(Thank you Lord for my sweet baby's health!)

On May 19th I turned 31 years old.

May 21st Catelyn turned 3 years old.

We had her a Mickey and Minney party and she loved every minute of it!

June: Keeping cool and keeping sane. Had a newborn at home, house on the market, packing up the house, and keeping a three year old entertained. Remembering it makes me tired all over again. ha!

July: Ugh... What a month. Lots of tears, lots of heartaches, lots of new beginnings. We said goodbye to our friends and family in Birmingham, sold our house, Will quit his job and we headed to Jonesboro, AR for Will to start his new job at ASU.

August: My amazing (and very cute, I might add...) husband said goodbye to his 20's. Will turned the big 3.0. on Aug 25th.

September: Busy month...

Me and the kids headed to Huntsville to spend time with my family. While we were there, we were able to get a picture of ALL the grandkids together for the first time.

We also headed to Montevallo to spend Labor Day with the Lawler's.

We hit the state fair while we were home. :) Good times!

Catelyn had her hair cut short and bangs cut, and looked absolutely precious.

We all got to head to ASU for the red wolves to play some football and support daddy.

October: Catelyn understood Halloween for the first time and had a blast!

Christmas Holiday

Christmas was so great this year. Will was given two weeks off for Christmas, so we were able to go see both sets of parents. We headed to Huntsville first and had an awesome time with my parents and my sister's family, and then a week later we headed to Montevallo to spend another Christmas with Will's family. Living away this year really made getting the chance to go home so much more special. There are TONS of pictures to follow (31 to be exact). Just a fair warning. :)

**All this snow is what we woke up to Christmas morning. However, the kids had already explored what Santa brought and opened presents before we even realized it had snowed. What a great surprise to see we were given a white Christmas. I think it took us all of 5 minutes to gear up and head out doors.

Catelyn literally took about two steps off the porch and plopped down to start doing a snow angel. Evidentially she learned how from Mickey Mouse Club House. ha!

So...I had these great hopes of getting Christmas cards off to all my sweet friend and family, showing off my precious children and most importantly, sharing in the celebration of the birth of our awesome Savior. Well, alas, it's not going to happen. Time has gotten away from me, the cards still aren't ordered, and I would never be able to get them out on time. I'm not giving up though. I know it's not the same, and no where near as much fun as getting to pull a fun Christmas card out of the mail box (this is the only time of year I like to check the mail. ha!), but here is my blog version of our Christmas card. Christmas Card Time

It's that time. Christmas Card Time. Each year I 'attempt' to take a family (or just one of the kids as it typically turns out. ha!) photo to put onto a Christmas card. I love having a picture of the family. I don't love having my picture taken though. :) BUT, the fun part is matching our picture to the RIGHT card. I've used Shutterfly to create the perfect card. They have so many super cute cards to choose from. They have such a variety. Any person can find one to match their personality and style. My favorite cards to look at are the flat stationary cards like the one pictured above. I like that you get to see more of the picture. However, I also love that you have LOTS of different card options to use multiple pictures. I love seeing pictures of families together, but I also love getting to see individual pictures of sweet ones, and how they are growing. Therefore, I will most likely use the later option this year to display our growing family.

Also, I like Shutterfly for other photo projects. Recently I saw this photo card for a birth announcement. It was really cute. I've also seen their cute cards for birthday thank yous, like the ones found here. And while I was bebopping around on their site, I found this cute birthday idea. What kid doesn't like to read about themselves in a book? So, all this to say, Shutterfly has lots of fun options when it comes to not only creating the perfect Christmas card but also to finding creative gifts and ways to say, "thank you."

Monogram Wreath

I was on a mission to make one of my own. My sweet and very talented friend, Lauren, cut out the letter for me, and I raided Lowe's for the greenery (Lowe's and Home Depot both have a bin of tree trimming that they will give to anyone- no charge!) to make my free wreath. I was really excited how it turned out and that it was free. I know all you crafting friends are always looking for great ideas, so I had to post this. 6 months old

This picture so captures the happiness of my 6 month old! What a sweet little man we have. He is growing so much and doing so many new things. He is rolling over from back to belly and belly to back. He's started sitting up last week and is doing really well. He is eating all kinds of things and, as always (thank you Lord!), is still sleeping wonderfully. Because of the holidays we don't go for his 6 month check up until he's 7 months, but a month ago, he weighed in at 19.3 pounds. I'll be super curious to see how much the "little" guy weighs we go in Dec. In the mean time, he's about to break my arm off carrying him in the punkin' seat. I'm thinkin' those days are limited. Happy 6 months Tripp!

5 Months Old

Lately, I have really been loving a bunch of new blogs I've found that are super creative with sewing- especially with taking old clothes and making them new. Well, when we were in Montevallo over Labor Day, I got to spend some time hanging out with my sister-in-law and helping her clean out her closet of things she's had since high school. While going through all of these clothes, I was completely inspired and ideas started going through my head of how maybe I could turn some of these things into new clothes for the kiddos. Fall Decorating

Ok...so it might be a smidge early, but I totally broke out my fall decorations yesterday, complete with a halloween craft. Maybe I'm thinking if I decorate for holidays that come with cooler temperatures... then maybe it will actually get cooler outside. Here's for hoping anyways. :)

ASU First Home Game

This weekend, ASU had their first home game which ended victoriously- Yay! On Friday night, me and the kids, along with my friend Claudine and her two kids, all headed downtown for "Paint the Town Red." Will and Daniel (Claudine's husband) met us there. It was fun getting out of the house and Catelyn had a ball! The next day, while the husbands were working at the stadium, Claudine and I strapped on the bjorn's, packed the backpacks, held little hands, and grabbed our tickets to go to the game. I so wish we had a picture of us geared up. I was pretty nervous of how it was going to go with two kids, but Catelyn and Tripp did AWESOME! The game didn't start until 7, so Catelyn was asking to go home by the end of the first quarter. I didn't mind though- I was pretty tired from carrying my chunky monkey and keeping up with a three year old. Overall though... we had a great time!

It's Cereal Time!

I have been blown away with the differences between my two kids. I love that they are so completely different in so many ways! When I first started feeding Catelyn cereal, she was not very interested and it was somewhat of a battle from then on out to get her to eat at all (that battle continues today.) Tripp, however, had ALL of the cereal eaten, plus a little milk to wash it down, in no time. It was great! I don't think feeding him will be nearly the challenge as with my sweet 3 year old. Our Big Sweet Boy

This past Thursday, Tripp went in for his four month checkup. Has it really been 4 months??!! He is doing great and is a healthy baby boy. He weighed in at 17 pounds 15 ounces and is 26 inches long. I call him my little chunky monkey. He has been such a sweet, laid back, cuddle bug. He is laughing and talking all the time, starting to roll to his tummy, and is doing so well in his exercauser. I am just so thankful for my sweet boy!!

As noted in the title, this weeks letter was the letter "B." Catelyn loved doing her projects, and I really had a good time spending that one on one time with her. The Fair and Haircuts

Over the weekend, Will and I packed up the kiddos and headed to Birmingham/Montevallo for the Labor Day weekend. We had such a great time! We got to spend awesome time with Will's family, see some really sweet friends, go back to our church and eat some really good food! It was a fantastic Labor Day. Which by the way...this was the first Labor Day Will has gotten in four years. Have I mentioned how glad I am he's out of law. :)

While we were there, Jack and Pops took us all to the fair where Catelyn had a blast. Later that night, Ruth Ann gave all of us haircuts (thanks again Rudy...you're the best!!!). Catelyn had about 4-5 inches cut off. She looks so precious, and should have an easier time not getting everything under the sun mated in her hair. Ha!

Sweet Sewing Machine...How I've Missed You!

With having a new baby, moving to a new town and getting all the boxes unpacked, I haven't been able to sew for quite a while. Well, I'm definitely making up for lost time. I've missed it so much! It's my little out from the world and I am so happy to return to it! At the beginning of the week when I pulled out my machine for the first time here in Jonesboro, I sighed... gently patted my machine and whispered "I've missed you dear friend." ( I'm a freak, I know!)

So, since I was reunited with my long lost friend, I figured it was time to sew Catelyn a few things. Here's what I came up with. Not sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow, but I'm sure there will be something. :)

Catelyln isn't doing Mother's Day Out this year (sniff, sniff), but I still want her learning and being challenged at home. This is where all my fellow mommies come in. I'm needing some help thinking up creative ideas of ways to teach her things (i.e. verses, colors, letters, numbers, etc). I'd also love ideas for projects she and I can do together and projects she can do on her own, as well as things to keep her little hands busy when she gets extra antsy in the afternoons. Ok...so lately, I have seen so many creative blogs of ways to take old clothes and make something new. I was inspired to try and refashion some of my own things, and it made for some super cute clothes for FREE!! I had kept one of Will's old Brooks Brothers button ups that was fraying at the neck, because I hated to throw it out. Then...it hit me! Make an outfit for Tripp! He also had an old Shelby Academy football t-shirt with his number on it, (he had duplicates of it, I think he would have shot me if I cut up his only one. ha!) so once again...layette for Tripp! Finally, I had left over fabric from making the nursery bedding, so what did I do with it...overalls for Tripp!! Ha! It was so much fun making these things (some of which I did a while back, and sadly he's already grown out of.) Anyways, had to show you how they turned out. :)

In our attempt at saving money, my sweet husband let me take sheers to his hair this past weekend. My awesome and very talented sister in law showed me how to cut Will's hair before we left Birmingham. I did it for the first time all by myself this past weekend. I was really nervous, and it took me two hours, but I was pretty proud of how it turned out. For Will's sake, I'm hoping I get faster and better as time goes on. Mamaw's Biscuits

When I was growing up, my grandmother (Mamaw as we called her) used to make the most amazing biscuits!! All of us kids loved them (and her even more of course) so much that if my dad went home to Knoxville, TN to visit, she would make us a batch to send home for us kids. Well recently, my sweet Aunt Vicki passed the recipe on to me, and I've been trying my "attempts" at making Mamaw's biscuits. They are pretty good, but no where near the yumminess that her's were. We've moved! Welcome to Jonesboro, Arkansas...home of the ASU Red Wolves! (There is another one of these signs that says you'll have a HOWL of a good time. Ha! Aren't they crafty!)

Anyways~ The past 11 weeks have been quite a whirl wind. We had a new baby, kept a house unrealistically clean with two kids while the house was on the market, finally sold our house (Praise the Lord!!), packed up all our things and moved 5 hours away to Jonesboro, Arkansas where Will started a new job at Arkansas State University as the assistant athletic director of compliance. We had been praying for a career change for Will for sometime, and we're so thankful the Lord provided an opening for Will to get out of law. It's been a huge step of faith, but we're excited to see all this year has in store. It was really hard leaving family and friends and there have been some lonely times for me being the new kid in town, but slowly we are starting to meet new people. Thankfully, I have incredible friends and family that check on me on a regular basis which makes those relationships not seem so far away (love ya'll for this...more than you know!!!! ) Anyways, now that we are starting to get settled in, I'm hoping to resume to more regular blogging. In the mean time, I'll leave you with some sweet pictures of my little ones.

Yesterday, Will and Catelyn were playing out back when all the sudden Catelyn starts screaming. Will runs and picks her up and realizes she has stepped in a bed of fire ants. Not understanding what was going on, she just stood there allowing the evil ants to tear up her little legs. It was absolutely heart breaking. The picture doesn't do it justice at all. She probably has around 30-40 fire ant bites on those little swollen feet. It kept her up all night last night burning and itching. My heart goes out to her. If any of ya'll know of a solution to the burning and itching, PLEASE pass it on. So sorry sweet girl!

Tripp's Frist Hair Cut

Tripp's hair was totally cracking me up. He had such the old man hair style going on. It was so long over his ears, much thicker on the sides and thinner on top. Today I decided to take a stab at cutting his hair. It definitely looks better, although I need to get my sister in law to teach me some tricks of the trade. Here are the before and after shots. I must say the before pictures make me laugh. :)

Opening Presents

Catelyn was priceless opening her presents. This particular present was from my Mom. Dumbo is one of her very favorite Disney movies, and she only got to watch it at my mom's (Mamaw) house because she's the only one that had it. Needless to say, Catelyn was SO excited to have her very own copy. Thanks mom!

Catelyn's 3rd Birthday Party

This year, for Catelyn's 3rd birthday, we had a Mickey Mouse party! Catelyn was precious! She definitely knew what was going on, and had been talking about her birthday party for months! I had so much fun getting ready for it, and was especially excited that I was able to do her invitations, "happy birthday" banner, Mickey and Minnie table decorations, table cloth and Catelyn's 'Minnie' dress all for $10. Woohoo!! I made and prepared everything (with the exception of the cupcakes. I made those the day before the party) before Tripp was born, so come the day of the party, all I had to do was set the table and put her dress on. It made for such an easy party. Catelyn had a fantastic time celebrating with the family and we all enjoyed watching her blow out candles and open presents. Love you sweet girl and happy 3rd birthday! **Pardon all the pictures. Catelyn is absolutely taken with her little brother and it is so cute!!! He can make her smile faster than anything else. The other day, she was in the midst of pitching a crying fit over something and then she heard the baby on the video monitor. She ran over to it, turned on the picture and broke into a huge smile and said "aw...he's so cute!" I couldn't help but laugh. I am so thankful she has adjusted so well. Such an answered prayer!!

3 Years Old!

Yesterday my sweet little girl turned 3 years old. I can't believe that much time has already gone by. She was so excited about her birthday this year. That's all she's talked about for the past month. In a few weeks we're having her a Mickey Mouse birthday party with the family and I don't know is she could possibly be more excited. I'll be sure to post pictures after her party. Happy Birthday Catelyn- We love you!!!

Tripp is Here!

William Philip Lawler, III "Tripp" was born Monday May 10th at 2:20 in the afternoon, weighing in at a whopping 8 pounds 11 ounces, and is 21 inches long. The delivery went very smooth and quick, but unfortunately since he came out with only a few pushes, it didn't squeeze the mucus out of his lungs and has caused some respiratory problems. They ended up having to admit him to the NICU and he's been hanging out there since. He is steadily improving and we continue to get good reports, so hopefully he'll be able to come home tomorrow. Will and I were discharged today, and there were quite a few tears on the drive home. I never expected to leave the hospital without my little guy, but I know he's in good hands. We'll still get to go visit him during visitor hours, but I'm most definitely looking forward to him being given a clean bill of health so we can have him home permanently. I wanted to thank everyone for their sweet words of encouragement through texts, phone calls, visits etc... I am blessed to have such sweet friends and family!

Life is About to Change!

Went to the doctor today and had an ultrasound that measured Tripp to be approximately 8 lbs 2 oz. So...we scheduled an induction for Monday morning at 5 am (whew that's early!). I'm super excited that he's almost here, and I'm really looking forward to a sweet last weekend of being a family of three. I'm not going to lie...I'm a little nervous to how Catelyn is going to handle having a baby brother around. I'm hoping Saturday Will and I will get to spend some special time loving on her. I'm also excited because we are going to go ahead and send Catelyn to my in-laws Sunday night, which means Will and I will be able to spend some time together just he and I. Maybe we can go on a date- I just love date nights with my man! So as of Monday, we should officially be a family of four and I am SOOO excited!

38 Weeks and Holding

Went to the doctor today and haven't changed a whole lot- still at 1 1/2 cm and 25% effaced, which was about what I was expecting. I go back on Tuesday to get checked and to get an ultrasound to see about how much this little guy is weighing. After we see how much (or if... I should say) I've progressed, we'll schedule an induction. Woohoo!!!! I am so ready to meet Tripp and to NOT be pregnant anymore. :) Maybe in the meantime I'll go into labor on my own. Oh...that would be so awesome!

Tripp's Nursery

It was really fun getting to do a little boys nursery after very happily being around pink for the past three years. There was a lot of sewing involved, but it was worth it. I was really pleased with how the letters turned out too. Oh...and the window frame on the wall will eventually have a picture for each month of his first year of life. I also thought it was fun being able to use the "Lawler" from the back of Will's Samford football jerseys in the nursery. I have about three or so weeks until the little man gets here, and I am so ready! :)

Easter

This weekend, Will, Catelyn and I went to Huntsville to spend Easter with my parents, my sister, her husband and two kids. It was so great getting to spend some time together. Saturday night we had an Easter egg hunt and made homemade pizzas, and then Sunday we got to go to worship with my parents. Afterwards, we went back to their house where we met up with Graham and Sarah and had a super yummy Easter lunch. It was a fantastic weekend, the family was great but more so because of our risen Savior! Happy Easter everyone!

Dying Eggs

Catelyn and I dyed eggs today, and I think she really had a good time. It's a little messy of a project, but well worth it! Catelyn was very proud of how her eggs turned out. She played with them FOREVER!!! It was fun. :)
